Medical Students in India: Medical students in India can be given many benefits. The task force has given a report to the National Medical Commission in which some recommendations have been made for the students studying medicine. If NMC implements it, then these students can get great relief from the workload.

The task force formed for the mental health and well-being of medical students has submitted its report to the National Medical Commission (NMC). According to the report, depression, anxiety and stress are taking a heavy toll on medical students. The task force has made several major recommendations to deal with these.

What is said in these suggestions-

  • One weekly off
  • Five days of 10-hour duty
  • 10 days leave to visit family
  • Resumption of supplementary exams

Important recommendations of the task force for medical students

  • The duty hours should not exceed 74 hours a week.
  • There should be a 24 hour shift on one day and 10-hour shifts on five days.
  • There should be no shortage of hostel facilities.
  • E COMPLAINT PORTAL should be started to solve problems.
  • There should be counselling service in every medical college.

The study says that to get admission in a medical college in India, one has to pass a very tough competitive exam (NEET). After that, issues like becoming a good doctor, burden of family expectations, hostel, exam, fear of ragging dominate the students.

The National Medical Commission will consider the recommendations given by the task force. After that, some big decisions can be expected to be taken by the NMC. If the recommendations of the task force are implemented, it will be a big relief for medical students pursuing courses like MBBS, BDS, MD, MS. Information about any decision of NMC in this regard will be made available to you on the official website of the commission nmc.org.
