Despite this, there are many property owners in the capital who have been negligent in paying their property tax for a long time.

MCD has also announced the benefit of discount on payment of lump sum property tax. Still many property owners are not paying their outstanding property taxes. In such a situation, if you have not paid your property tax yet, then pay your taxes soon. Delhi Municipal Corporation has now started action against those doing so along with fines.

Four properties attached

The MCD’s Shahdara South Zone Tax Assessment and Collection Department has taken major action on four properties for not paying property tax. This property is located in Ward No. 195 of Kalyanpuri. Deputy Tax Assessor and Collector of Shahdara South Zone of the Corporation Kunwar Balwant Rao said that the properties on which action was taken have property tax dues of about Rs 62 lakh.

MCD’s appeal to the people

MCD had earlier on several occasions advised those property owners to pay property tax, on whom property tax was pending for a long time.

Corporation officials have appealed to the people to pay the property tax as soon as possible to avoid sealing and penalty amount.

People have also been advised to take advantage of the Samridhi Yojana.

Why is it necessary to pay property tax?

According to the MCD official, property tax is a statutory tax, which is mandatory for all property holders in Delhi to pay. He said that the corporation has started the process of collecting property tax by running a campaign against the property owners who fail to pay the property tax. Under this, strict action is being taken by the MCD against the defaulters of property tax in various wards of the area.
