In the first round of Delhi University’s undergraduate (UG) admissions, more than 46,000 seats, out of the 71,600 available, have been secured by students, according to an official statement released on Tuesday.
The university is set to begin classes for the 2024-25 academic year on August 29, a delay from the original start date of August 1 due to the postponement of Common University Entrance Test (CUET) results.
Of the students who were offered college and course combinations, 11,224 have chosen to “freeze” their selections, indicating they need more time to finalise their decisions. Meanwhile, 27,613 students have opted for an upgrade, seeking a change in their allotted college and course combinations.
The first round of the Common Seat Allocation System concluded last Wednesday, with 83,678 students accepting the university’s offers. As of 5 pm Tuesday, 46,171 of these students have confirmed their admissions by paying the required fees. The deadline for fee payment is August 21, Wednesday.
For this round, DU had extended offers to a total of 97,387 students. On Thursday, the university will publish a list of vacant seats on the candidates’ dashboards, marking the beginning of the second round of CSAS for the session. During this phase, students would have the opportunity to change the order of their preferred colleges and course combinations. This reordering window will open at 5 pm on August 22 and close at 4.59 pm the next day.
The deadline for online payment to secure admissions in the second round is August 30, with the window closing at 4.59 pm.
