Rohit Sharma reflected on a dramatic last month which saw the Indian team win the T20 World Cup and usher in a new era with Gautam Gambhir as the head coach.

It has been some month for Indian cricket and the team. In the last four weeks, the men’s team clinched the T20 World Cup to end their 11-year ICC title jinx. It was followed by euphoria on return home with celebrations in Delhi and Mumbai.

As head coach Rahul Dravid stepped away at the end of the tournament, it ushered in a new era under Gautam Gambhir with Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli retiring from the shortest format.

The start of this new dawn got off on a promising note: Suryakumar Yadav-led India blanked Sri Lanka 3-0 in the shortest format. The focus now shifts to the 50-overs, starting on Friday (August 2).

Ahead of series, Rohit had an emotional message for the fans. In a video posted by the BCCI, it captured the last month for the Indian team and where they stand now. From Rohit’s captain’s shoot in Barbados to the victory parade near Marine Drive, the iconic dance at the Wankhede Stadium, the video had it all.

And then it showed visuals of the team’s training session in Colombo as they prepared for the ODI series.
